Position Summary


The AD, Design Research Lead will lead a team of in house experience researchers to support various business units in Singtel to discover and define the user experience across all of its digital properties. When required, be also able to leverage external research agencies to achieve the business objectives.


The role will work in partnership with Product Owners and Designers from initial user needs discovery through to launch and beyond, to create engaging and memorable digital experiences for mobile, tablet, online or TV.


It is expected that this role will support the Director of Digital Experience & Design to bring customer centricity to our processes, and deliver maximum value and results across various projects and will be accountable for driving the voice of the user/customer across the organisation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and inspire a team of design researchers to deliver on multiple concurrent projects from concept through completion.
  • Lead design discovery for project kick-offs and identify user needs and motivations for projects undertaken using Design Thinking methodologies.
  • Establishes a research process, ensuring that it is consistently applied and continuously optimized and refined for improved outcomes.
  • Accountable for making our experience customer centric by embedding the customers’ needs into the design process.
  • Critically analyse and test design deliverables from internal teams and external vendors and to provide relevant feedback in order to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and business partners to help shape, define and influence the brief.
  • Communicate, defend and build consensus around design direction and approach to all internal stakeholders.
  • Engage, present concept and design deliverables to senior management at the VP-level and C-level.
  • Hire and backfill vacated roles whenever necessary.
  • Be at the forefront of global trends, research and consumer insights in the design field as well as other relevant business verticals.

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a research role with at least 3-5 years’ experience in a leadership position.
  • Experience leading a client facing project from start to finish.
  • Ability to balance design aspirations with business strategy and objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Experience with usability hardware and software such as Tobii, usertesting.com, userzoom.com.
  • Experience with prototyping software such as Marvel, InVision are a plus.
  • Undergraduate degree in HCI research or other research-related fields
  • Understanding of technology and technical limitations is a plus
