Reporting to the Director Infrastructure Services, the Associate Director Energy Management is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the Optus Energy Management System (EnMS) and driving the efficient and effective use of energy across the portfolio and its assets. The Energy Manager will develop and implement the organisation’s energy management policy, and will set achievable targets for energy use, and then design action plans to achieve targets with ongoing measurement and reporting of progress.


The day to day
 

  • Strategic approaches to energy efficiency that are built into project design and delivery with a view to enhancing our return on investment and reducing ongoing costs.
  • Develop renewables strategies for Optus with the Sustainability team to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
  • Water consumption reduction strategies.
  • Implement a comprehensive data management strategy around energy, water, refrigerant, gas and diesel
  • Management of outsourced utility management partner.
  • Responsible for all energy cost modelling and forecasting and tracking against these targets.
  • Identification and tracking and reporting against energy saving opportunities with larger stakeholder group.
  • Reducing business risks associated with rising energy prices and inefficient energy use.


About you
 

  • A degree in engineering or a related field
  • Certified Energy Manager
  • Strong working knowledge of the energy sector in Australia, currently challenges of the sector, and understanding of how the sector needs to transition
  • A good technical understanding of a range of equipment and processes used in the electricity generation sector and key issues affecting each technology.
  • Relevant experience in energy management, energy efficiency, or related fields
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional communication, relationship management and leadership skills
