Make an Impact by:

 

  • Responsible for the installation of the fibre cable for new development (commercial, Industrial & Residential buildings) and backbone fibre network. 
  • To execute all access fibre cable works in the area under his control in accordance with all established operation procedures and engineering instructions.
  • Ensure that target dates (Customer Ready Date) for all access fibre cable schemes are met so that services can be provided expeditiously to customers.
  • Carry out maintenance of fibre cables and attend to emergency cable breakdowns and system outage during and after office hours.
  •  Attend site meeting with other public bodies and private housing developers in connection with provision of fibre cable.
  • To provide on-site support in fibre network operations including troubleshooting and rectification of fibre circuits.
  • To follow safety procedure in accordance with the work health and safety act (WHSA) and to use appropriate safety equipment to complete the assigned job efficiently and safely. 
  • To assist the supervisor to spot-check and identify potential safety hazards at site and ensure that temporary road closure signs are always displayed by them and the contractors at worksite in accordance with LTA requirements.
  • To be able to use splicing machine and testing equipment for fibre splicing and fibre testing respectively.
  • Liaise with the Pipe and the Planning team to ensure the SLD and pipe are ready for the fibre cable implementation.
  • Issue material vouchers for the contractor and verify the claims submitted by the contractor.
  • Officer can be expected to work under highly pressurized environment especially during emergency restoration of telecommunications services.
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor-in-charge.

 

Skills for Success:

  • Diploma in Electronics Engineering/Telecommunications or in relevant field.
  • Preferably with 1 year working experience and holding Class 3C driving license.
  • Able to work during non-office hours to support network incidents and restoration.
  • Good working knowledge of PC applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Good communication skills, keen to learn and a team player
  • Able to cope and work in a fast-paced environment.
