Associate Finance Director (Project Management & Analysis)

This role will lead a team of Financial Analyst and Project Executives and be responsible in providing direct support to the Customer Fronting Units (CFU)/ Line Of Business (LOB) Heads and Business Centers (BC)/ Service Delivery Centers (SDCs) Heads for project financials, including project budgets, forecasts, billings, and Project Review Council, Internal Project Management Committee for 6000+ active projects. In addition, this role is also key to the project governance in terms of project exceptions monitoring, sales registrations, project code structure creations, processes and systems relating to projects.

 

Responsibilities

 

Project Governance & Management

 

  • Provide direct support to the project delivery teams in ensuring that all financial aspects of project execution are on track, including but not limited to monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, approving expenses, project budgets, financial updates and forecast of projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance of project governance and controls for NCS Group which would impact project revenue and margins.
  • Responsible for providing of business performance reports (e.g. Project Exceptions) for all stakeholders (including Senior Management and CFU/ LOB Heads)
  • Support to business units and delivery teams in their operations by providing interpretative guidance/ information on contract/ project financial management to determine the relevant requirements.
  • Conduct on-boarding training sessions on revenue and cost recognition for Project Managers.
  • Responsible for the after-sales administration in areas of sales registration, contract variation, and monthly sales for order book, etc.
  • Support project teams in project structures setup, budget setting, monitoring of project billings to facilitate in better managing of their projects.
  • Formulation and maintenance of policies and procedures on project accounting framework for the group.
  • Implement and maintain an effective internal control system for project accounting of the Group and ensure compliance with statutory and corporate policies and procedures. This includes working with Internal and External Auditors to address all audit points relevant to project management and accounting of the Group.
  • Lead in process improvements and system enhancements in relation to project financials.
  • Supervise and be responsible for team management and development of the staff (e.g. identify staff training needs, grooming potential talents, etc)

 

Project Accounting & Analysis

 

  • Provide advisory to CFUs/ LOBs on decision relating to financials and accounting treatment (e.g. revenue, cost recognition, tax, treasury, etc) for all deals during the bid/ tender proposal, project initiation, project execution, and project completion stages.
  • Provide analysis on project margins by LOB, Customer Facing Unit (CFU), & service types (e.g. development, maintenance, new vs existing projects, etc)
  • Provide report and analysis to Line of Business (LOB) heads, and Service Delivery Directors (SDD) on outstanding accrued revenue aging and support them in driving improvements so as to improve cash flow position.
  • Tracking and monitoring of project losses (including supporting LOB in Project Review Council , Internal Project Management Council, & preparing BU MC paper).
  • Perform assessment on IFRS15 accounting standard impact on project revenue recognition (Percentage-of-Completion, Non-Percentage-of-Completion method) & on-going support/ advisory on revenue recognition.
  • Responsible for providing of business performance reports (e.g. Project Margins analysis by LOB/ CFU, Accrued Revenue reviews, etc) for all stakeholders (including Senior Management and CFU/ LOB Heads)
  • Lead the month-end closing activities in relation to project accounting to ensure accurate and timely revenue and cost recognition.
  • Lead in the development and maintenance of Business Intelligence analytical tool for project financials and statistics for finance and business analysis. 

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Degree with at least 12 years of working experience of which minimum 6 years in a managerial role, in an MNC environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management, order fulfilment operations, process improvement, and financial analysis.
  • Ability to think strategically, lead, motivate, direct and influence.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to inspire teamwork and commitment to shared goals.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and good communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • A hands-on and independent person.
  • Meticulous with strong analytical mind and ability to work under pressure with tight schedule.
