About the role:
The Consulting Architect exhibits in-depth technology and business knowledge across a range of industry segments and technology specialties within the Telco and ICT space to deliver solutions to Optus customers. The role will place a strong emphasis on the value proposition of ‘enterprise-wide’ solutions to address a customer’s varying business needs.
The position holder must have a strong background in the areas of telecommunications, information technology, applications and implementation/migration challenges across a range of industries and markets. They must be capable of developing innovative / complex ICT road maps, articulating the plan and influencing senior management both externally and internally.
The Consulting Architect is responsible for providing direction and leadership to technical teams, potentially drawing on expertise from the broader Optus business when targeting major opportunities and developing associated proposals. This will include being responsible for supporting complex major accounts whose commercial needs require sophisticated, innovative and integrated business solutions.
The Consulting Architect is the overall solution owner for all streams of a major customer engagement, covering ongoing relationship and major offer stages:
- Ongoing relationship: providing professional enterprise-wide design and consultancy services to develop innovative ‘whole-of-business’ relationships on an ongoing basis, to address customer business requirements through technology, application and services
- Offers stages: providing major solution offers (bids), covering technology and commercial ownership, and is instrumental in defining the winning business-to-technology value proposition.
The role will be extensively customer facing and require a strong rapport with the customer with extensive experience of presenting to the C-level executive, contribution to proposal authoring and innovative thinking.
The position provides a key link between the sales process, product capability owners, and implementation teams.
Role Requirements:
- Develop non-standard solutions to meet specific customer requirements through direct engagement with Vendor System Engineers and other technical specialists.
- Direct ownership of solution proposed to customer, including all lines of business:
- Fixed Carriage (Data & Voice)
- Mobile as an access method
- ICT – Network Solutions
- Solution ownership with support from Specialists:
- Cloud & Data Centre
- Unified Comms and Contact Centre
- Security
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of present technological trends, processes, methodologies in the IT marketplace and competitor’s offerings.
- Enhance Optus’s Enterprise service offerings by working with Product Managers and Capability Development Groups.
- Minimum of 10 years working in the communications & Information Technology industries) providing technical and consulting support.
- Broad-based ICT/Telecommunications systems design background with detailed understanding of enterprise-wide system architecture and service management methodologies.
Professional/technical skills:
- Relevant vendor and industry certifications. E.g. Cisco.
- Ability to recognise and analyse the customer’s business needs and translate them into relevant ICT solutions. Be able to articulate the value proposition to the customer.
- Experience in the development of long-term business relationships and developing strategic sales plans are essential.
- Ability to lead major Design teams through setting the architecture strategy, including leading RFT submission activities.
- Advanced knowledge of contract, risk and commercial risks.
