About the role

The IT Security Manager (ITSM) is the primary security services advocate and manager for Optus’ Government Integrated Client Services (ICS) supporting our client / Fed Gov.  The ITSM has responsibility for the effective security framework lifecycle management, organic growth, and satisfaction of our government customer.  The ITSM is part of the senior leadership team and will, in conjunction with other members of the management team, contribute to the development of strategic business plans and engage with key customer stakeholders, including at the executive level. They will apply a continuous improvement process to deliver security services, whilst maintaining cadence with changes in the Australian Government ICT Security Manual (ISM) and to a lesser extent, the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).

 

Operationally, the ITSM supports all facets of the ICT security life-cycle, including project support (in the form of managing and advising projects on ICT security, including security accreditation artefacts); and Operations support (in the form of vulnerability management, security incident response, security reporting, security awareness training)

The ITSM is also responsible for producing and maintaining the ICT security framework used to deliver contract-based deliverables to the customer, establish and maintain security accreditation across account services, and deliver and/or review security risk assessments and management plans.

 

This role includes a customer facing element, as well as engagement with other Optus stakeholders to ensure that customer expectations are appropriately managed, opportunities for improvement and/or growth are realized, and delivery is consistent with the contract and customer expectations.

 

This position is predominantly self-managing with little direction required from senior management, will liaise with internal Optus Security elements, be able to negotiate pragmatic outcomes for the customer, leverage a multi-disciplinary technical team to achieve the effective operation of the delivery framework. They will seek to positively influence and motivate internal and external stakeholders to ensure strategic partnerships are maintained with customers. The ITSM will be required to work both on site at the client premise and Optus Centre Canberra.

 

Skills / knowledge

  • Requires an outstanding knowledge of, and experience with Cyber Security and Information Security disciplines
  • 5+ years’ experience in a comparable Federal Government Security role
  • Managing security in complex ICT environments and finding pragmatic effective solutions to diverse and complex issues as well as managing security in large managed service accounts
  • Experience in applying Federal Government security policy
  • Minimum Baseline Federal Government security clearance

 

Technical Skills / Professional

  • Extensive proven experience with, (as a minimum), ISO2700x or ISM, and PSPF
  • Broad range of experience in all aspects of IT security
  • Demonstrated experience in Security Incident Management and Security Compliance management
  • Experience applying Risk Management principles

  • Liaison with customers, and internal stakeholders
  • Creative thinking, the development of new concepts and approaches contributing significantly to the advancement of cumulative knowledge within the team
  • Able to apply strategic thinking in the business context to ensure continuous improvement, continued relevance, and efficient operation of the program
