About the role

In this role you will take ownership of customer engagements, ensuring they're fit for purpose and satisfy current and future operational requirements of both client and Optus Enterprise for ongoing management

You will have a proven track record of technical leadership within a Managed Services environment, working with Federal Government customers. You will provide comprehensive design, solution build/ implementation, scoping and technical insights in relation to the Data Centre Networking (Cisco Nexus OR Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI)) domain. You will mentor and assist and complement the mid to junior level engineers in a technical capacity. You must have sound technical knowledge of F5 Big IP, VMware NSX and various Next gen firewalls.

You will also possess knowledge of ITIL methodology and will be required to adhere to applicable ITIL processes including Incident, Change and Problem Management.



  • Undertaking system analysis, technical design, implementation of solutions applied to customer infrastructure focusing on the Data Centre Environment but also in the LAN WAN domain and as applicable to the role.

  • Work with implementation teams and the customer, providing systems/network design and implementation support to ensure smooth and effective migration to new technology/versions;

  • Work with the Optus Technical Assistance Centre for resolution of complex incidents and problems and the Service Delivery team to ensure the network is performing optimally

  • Perform on call after hours support to customers for P1 and P2 cases.

  • Liaise closely with the Pre-Sales Solution Architects to ensure accurate scoping and service pricing of solutions;

  • Assist with the review of the technical solutions and effort estimates needed for RFPs/Proposals.

  • Be prepared to fulfill customer requirements to work outside of normal business hours, where possible staff members will be remunerated for overtime where the customer is being charged for the service.


About you

  • AGSVA Security Clearance (NV1)

  • Minimum 10 years broad professional work experience in Networking.

  • Minimum 3 years experience in Data Centre Networking

  • Relevant Vendor Certifications

  • Experience in technical customer implementation as a lead engineer

  • Extensive experience in design, installation and support of Cisco Data Centre, Nexus OR Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI)

  • A good understanding of F5 BIG IP LTM and GTM products

  • Solid knowledge of Palo Alto and Checkpoint firewalls products

  • Demonstrated ability to work on-site for extended periods as senior part of a team

  • Technical expertise in the support, design, and implementation of systems applied to large customer installations
