Your mission ...

Responsible for prospecting, proposing and securing new partnerships and business opportunities for the strategic direction, service creation and go-to-market plan for Defence and Government, Satellite Mobility,  and Data and IP as identified key growth areas.


At its core, the role aligns to the desired business outcomes and top line revenue growth, by developing and converting new business relationships for Optus Satellite. You will have a natural flair for developing new business along with fostering relationships at all levels. You will be able to seize opportunities with high energy, efficiency and most importantly resilience to handle different scenarios and obstacles.


Additionally, you will also have a key focus on driving profitable and balanced acquisition and growth supported by comprehensive research, market intelligence and building outstanding customer relationships!

Examples of successful business development wins would be across UHF or Earth Observation satellite payloads.

We're keen to know about your ability to maintain a close internal working relationship with Sales, Marketing, Legal, Finance and Operations that will develop new customers, products and product initiatives to enable the successful execution of our BD strategy over coming years into the next generation satellite business we're developing.

Experience, qualifications & skills ...

  • You will be an Australian Citizen, in possession of ideally minimum NV1 security classification or the ability to attain this level and potentially higher levels of security clearance as needed;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Telecommunications, Sales related and/or Business;
  • Minimum of 7+ years holistic industry sales and/or business development experience;
  • Experience working with Defence or on Defence Accounts / BDM with a focus on high-end technical relationship/strategic selling - preferably in Satellite;
  • Sound commercial and eye for business with experience in positioning value propositions to customers;
  • Consistent track record in achieving sales growth through acquisition strategies and business development sales and customer loyalty through positive relationships;
  • Proven understanding of satellite Telco product offerings and underlying technologies;
  • Experience in leading key technical relationships and selling strategic business solutions that included ROI analysis;
  • Outstanding skills in crafting and driving growth programs based on local or regional market conditions & business climate;
  • Strong presentation and relationship management expertise with key internal and external senior executives; &
  • Commercially driven, hard-working, customer centric, highly motivated for success.
