Based in Canberra, ACT. This role has three key areas of responsibility – information management, business and technical writing, process analysis and documentation. A broad knowledge of the expectations held by Australian Government towards Technical Documentation in conjunction with that of Optus Delivery is required.

The Technical Writer/Information Manager will initiate and manage relationships to win support from Delivery Line Management. The role will work closely with the account Senior Leadership Teams in the review of end-to-end Technical Operation and Delivery processes.

Your day in the life of a Technical Writer/Information Manager at Optus

  • Ensure that technical documents comply with the required contractual obligations of different accounts, corresponding with the Technical Delivery framework implemented by the account Chief Architects.
  • Develop and implement the Information governance framework which includes policy, standard, procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure Optus business documentation complies with the required processes against ISO9001 standards determined by Optus quality certification.
  • Ensure that all technical documents produced are managed via acceptable lifecycle processes, ensuring that quality and accuracy remains constant and consistent.

Your skills to pay the bills

  • Experience in business processes, including Systems Engineering and change management.
  • Strong delivery track record
  • Successful background and experience in development of Quality Management Systems process improvement and project management
  • Ability to write economically and clearly for an intended audience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • Consultancy experience, especially in diagnostic, analysis, redesign, and implementation.
  • Well-developed communication, engagement, and negotiating skills.
  • Commercial acumen and sound judgement in decision making.
  • Good understanding of change management concepts.
  • Experience in using and administering Document/Knowledge Management systems.
  • Proficiency in desktop applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and MS Windows environment.
