As our Project Engineer, you will be accountable for the composition, build, maintenance, and relocation of Optus infrastructure, focusing on growing our telecommunications network with flawless execution.

 

You will work closely with the Fibre Manager, Senior Project Engineers, and other team members to deliver world-class engineering solutions while ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.

 

 

What You’ll Do

 

  • Plan and coordinate the construction of capital projects to expand Optus' telecommunications infrastructure for Core and Customer Access Networks.
  • Manage projects associated with infrastructure build and maintenance/relocation such as EXCH, FAN, RAN, HUBS, GSM, and CAN.
  • Liaise with utilities such as Telstra, Local Councils, Government Departments, and Energy Q.
  • Manage external contractors in compliance with Optus’ OH&S policy and Environmental Management Plan.
  • Achieve all project schedules, benchmarks, and accountabilities while meeting operational and budgetary requirements.
  • Work closely with Sales, Build, and other Delivery people to ensure all achievements and engineering projects are completed on time and efficiently.
  • Perform quality inspections on all works carried out by contractors and ensure company policies and procedures are followed.

 

 

What You Bring

 

  • Tertiary, Trade Certificate, or TAFE qualification in Telecommunications, Electrical, or Civil.
  • At least 3 years of recent telecommunications experience in internal and external plant, building, and construction activities.
  • Proven experience in a commercial environment overseeing contractors.
  • An in-depth knowledge of optical fibre delivery methods, installation practices, and route selection.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to achieve results and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
