In the role of Senior Project Engineer at Optus Administration Pty Ltd, you will play a major part in growing and supporting our world-class telecommunications infrastructure. This position is crucial for maintaining a dependable and efficient network that meets the rising demands of our customers.

 

 

What You’ll Do

 

  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert for Complex Orders and providing technical support for Project Engineers in resolving blocking issues.
  • Planning and managing the construction of large capital projects to expand Optus’ telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Maintaining and relocating existing infrastructure as needed due to network rearrangements or requests by external utilities.
  • Collaborating with the Fibre Manager and Project Engineers to deliver engineering orders and relocation projects on time, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Managing external contractors, ensuring compliance with Optus’ OH&S policy and Environmental Management Plan.
  • Reporting on and achieving all project schedules, benchmarks, and budgetary requirements.

 

 

What You Bring 

 

  • Tertiary, Trade Certificate or TAFE qualification in Telecommunications, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of recent telecommunications experience in internal and external plant building and construction activities.
  • Proven experience in coordinating contractors in a commercial environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial processes such as budgets and project cost analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A current driver’s licence.
  • Self-motivation with a strong desire to achieve results, excellent consultative and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of change management principles, including planning, stakeholder engagement, risk identification and mitigation, and the effective implementation of change initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of fibre optic design, including network planning, routing, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Demonstrated capability in contractor management, including coordination, performance oversight, and ensuring compliance with contractual, safety, and quality standards.
  • Proven project management expertise, with the ability to deliver outcomes efficiently, on schedule, and within defined scope.
