The Cloud Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for the overall coordination of the design and implementation of the Compute, Storage, Backup and Virtualization Infrastructure. Applying an integrated approach to design and implementation by working together with Infrastructure Solution Designer within a formal method and framework, the candidate ensures consistent and compatible solutions are produced. The solutions developed should be in line with the Infrastructure Enterprise Architecture to meet the Technology Infrastructure (TI) strategic objectives.


Based on the non-functional requirements, the candidate will create solutions in line with the overall TI Infrastructure Platforms Roadmap for Compute, Storage, Backup and Virtualization. By working closely with his/her colleagues, the Cloud Infrastructure Specialist ensures that the Infrastructure solutions make the best use of the technology platforms to meet the business requirements. In addition to the non-functional requirements, the solutions are delivered at optimal cost using the appropriate technology platforms.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist and respond promptly to incident, investigate & provide temporary &/or permanent resolution of incidents escalated
  • Primarily responsible for level 3 Technical Support to the Backup and Storage Infrastructure
  • Managing multiple escalations with effective follow-up/follow-through
  • Operations and Support Management for Backup & Storage Infrastructure
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation in support of NOC, which includes being available to assist with issues when not on call
  • To identify potential issues and risks, and to provide workable technical solutions to mitigate such risks
  • Working with Infrastructure Designers to provide a consensus-based enterprise outcome that is scalable, adaptable and in line with ever changing business needs.
  • Ensure operational processes are followed, project inventory is promptly updated, and documentation is in place before the systems are handed over to operational
  • Ensure solution proposed in compliance with security and best practices adopted by the industry
  • Maintain standard build implementation plans (SOE) and documentations including operation acceptance checklist
  • To identify potential issues and risks, and to provide workable technical solutions to mitigate such risks
  • Successful build and delivery of projects end-to-end; to install, configure, implement the storage & backup services and infrastructure according to design specification provided by Solution Designer
  • Review and provide feedback to Infrastructure solution designs to ensure they meet Standard Operating Environments


The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Degree in computer science/ Information Technology, Industry certification, e.g.  VMware, Microsoft, DELL EMC qualifications and Backup solutions. CCNA certification is highly desirable
  • 6-8 years of experience working and familiar with corporate network, compute, storage & backup design, public cloud design, security best practices and experience in putting together infrastructure design covering the aspects above. Able to articulate well on proposed design to stakeholder.
  • Experience and knowledge in area of Virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V), OS (RHEL, Windows), Compute/Storage (DELL EMC, IBM, UCS) and Backup solutions
  • Experience in performing VM migration, experience with Oracle, MySQL, and MSSQL would be advantageous from migration perspective
  • Knowledge of SAN, NAS, LAN, WAN and Data Centre architectures, enterprise design and industry standards relevant to data communications / networking and computing
  • Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN) on Cisco ACI will be advantageous
  • Ability to direct project design and planning activities associated with complex or large sized compute & storage infrastructure development projects
