The Compliance Manager will be reporting to the Compliance Director. This will role will formulate company policies to address gaps within NCS and NCS Group organisations. Review existing (and relevant) company policies to update these in relation to applicable laws, regulations, and applicability within the organization e.g. SOPs (standard operating procedures), and TOMs (technical and organizational measures). It also includes working with various departments within NCS and the NCS Group to manage the compliance and governance of these policies.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the management in risk governance across NCS and the NCS Group for relevant or highlighted compliance issues.
  • Develop as well as implement policies/best practices within NCS and the NCS Group to provide guidance and advisory support for the organisation's day-to-day operations and projects.
  • Handle queries and complaints regarding the governance process within and without NCS and the NCS Group (where applicable), while appropriately balancing NCS and the NCS Group's interests.
  • Assist in the design, implementation and monitoring of comprehensive and effective compliance programmes for NCS and the overall NCS Group.
  • Assist in the creation of policies, templates, guidelines, packaged knowledge, toolkits, processes and procedures (as necessary) to enable NCS and the NCS Group to adhere to laws, regulations and its own internal policies.
  • Evaluate and implement tools to improve efficiency in compliance areas.
  • Conduct/assist in conducting training to create awareness and accountability on compliance related matters and to motivate desired outcomes and behaviours.
  • Strategize, advise and consult executives on all compliance related matters representing NCS and NCS Group interests.
  • Work proactively with personnel from the various business units and functions to identify compliance risks and issues, proposing effective and innovative/value-added, practical solutions to management to mitigate such risk/issues.
  • Advise employees on regulatory compliance, adjudicate on regulatory issues pragmatically and provide support/materials in relation to risk mitigation strategies.
  • Exercise good judgement leveraging knowledge in the relevant areas of expertise and utilize previous experience in the application of the relevant policies having due regard to the relevant risk context.
  • Act as an escalation point for issues/ challenges faced by NCS or the NCS Group on compliance issues.
  • Conduct (or support) training to align NCS’ personnel (and where required, NCS Group’s personnel) on compliance laws, practices and processes as well as risk management.
  • Conduct compliance checks to ​assess the organization’s compliance to the relevant laws, regulations and polices.
  • Stay abreast of relevant developments affecting the organization, its clients and industries and synthesize the information to incorporate it into the NCS and NCS Group’s practices.

 

The Ideal Candidate Should Possess

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualifying experience in a law firm or in a fast-paced corporate legal group or tech firm including previous compliance experience
  • Strong understanding of the laws and regulations, serving as a subject matter advisor in relation to active areas of compliance relevant to a corporate body in particular in the technology space, including but not limited to data protection, anti-corruption/ gifts & entertainment, non-competition and export control
  • Ability to demonstrate business/commercial acumen and the ability to drive successful outcomes
  • Possess decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
