Every day, millions of Australians connect, work, stream, and stay in touch on the Optus network. When it works seamlessly, it’s easy to take for granted. But behind it is a team making thousands of decisions every day - decisions that keep people, businesses and communities connected.
Right now, Optus is focused on getting the fundamentals right - simplifying how we work, lifting standards, and building a more reliable, resilient experience for our customers.
It’s not about surface-level change. It’s about how we make decisions, how we work together, and how we deliver.
As a Data Enablement Lead, you will leverage your expertise in data management, analytics, governance, and stakeholder engagement to deliver trusted, high-quality data solutions that support strategic business outcomes. Working closely with stakeholders across Billing & Credit and the wider organisation, this role will drive data maturity, manage data risk and control frameworks, lead remediation initiatives, and ensure best-practice delivery of data services. The successful candidate will champion a strong data culture by improving secure data accessibility, developing robust data pipelines and single sources of truth, and enabling informed decision-making that enhances operational performance, customer outcomes, collections effectiveness, and business growth.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design and delivery of enterprise data solutions, including data integration, data modelling, and pipeline development, ensuring accurate, trusted, and accessible data supports informed business decision-making and strategic outcomes.
- Drive data governance, quality, and risk management practices by establishing robust controls, managing data access, maintaining compliance documentation, leading data quality initiatives, and partnering with stakeholders to align with broader organisational data strategies.
- Develop and enhance scalable reporting and analytics capabilities through the maintenance of single sources of truth, optimisation of reporting assets, automation of data processes, and the creation of analytical models that improve business performance and operational efficiency.
- Champion a data-driven culture across the organisation by providing technical leadership, supporting self-service analytics and data democratisation, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and coaching analysts to deliver innovative, best-practice data solutions.
What You Bring
- Strong data engineering and analytics expertise, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications and industry certifications.
- Extensive experience delivering cloud-based data solutions, including data warehousing, ETL, big data frameworks, pipeline orchestration, SQL, and programming languages such as Python and Java.
- Proven leadership in data governance, risk management, reporting, and analytics, with the ability to drive data quality, best practices, and business outcomes.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a track record of leading teams, influencing decisions, and delivering results in complex environments. By empowering one another, backing bold ideas and helping you own your impact, we’ve designed a workplace that gives you the freedom to grow, the support to thrive, and the chance to be part of something bigger – a team that’s shaping a more connected, inclusive and inspired Australia.
