This role works closely with key partners across the Group Data Office, Group IT, and business units including Optus Consumer, Business, Wholesale, and Enterprise. The main objective is to position data as a strategic asset while encouraging a system that ensures trusted, secure data usage, enabling business units to innovate efficiently.

  • Assist business units in implementing data management tools using risk and issue management techniques for remediation.

  • Own the creation and delivery of Data Management training programs and FAQs to improve standards across the organisation.

  • Continuously develop documentation and standard methodology materials for organisation-wide adoption.

  • Collaborate with Data Stewards and business units to integrate data management tools, providing expert governance mentorship and improving data quality across the lifecycle.

What makes you perfect for the role?

  • Relevant degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Mathematics, or Data Science, with relevant post-graduate qualifications in fields like Econometrics or IT.

  • Demonstrated ability in data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence, with 5+ years in Data Lifecycle Management, Governance, and Strategy, including telecommunications industry knowledge and risk/compliance frameworks.

  • Proven business partner management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority, and expertise in organisational change to drive technology adoption and new ways of working.

  • Strong proficiency in data management and governance, enterprise-level data quality, master data management, and related metrics, coupled with strong financial competence, analytical, and conceptual skills.

  • Lateral and strategic problem solver with strong conceptual reasoning, outstanding executive presence, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrable ability to manage time and team workloads across sophisticated, parallel projects while maintaining resilience under pressure and constant change.

  • A collaborative teammate and role model with high professional standards, good work ethic, and an entrepreneurial nature. Optimistic, creative, and energetic, with a proactive approach to challenges and opportunities.
