Design Researcher

As the Senior Design Researcher, you will champion UX research practices and methodologies that integrates user insights into product and digital experience designs.  Your research will help Product Owners and Designers create engaging and memorable digital experiences for our customers.  

You will drive primary research from planning to execution, exploring the behaviors and motivations of our users through a variety of quantitative and qualitative research techniques and methods.

You will work closely with the Design Research Manager to strategize and inspire change at all stages of product development by delivering compelling, written, in-person and visual presentations on our research findings. 

 

Key responsibilities: 

 

  • Work collaboratively with designers and product team members to identify, prioritize and conduct user research using appropriate quantitative and qualitative techniques such as usability testing, remote moderated and unmoderated studies, performance benchmarks, competitive benchmarks, structured surveys, user interviews, focus groups, ethnographic research, contextual inquiry, concept testing, card sorting and tree testing.
  • Generate actionable insights that help shape product and business decisions and communicate the user insights in compelling ways through written reports and in-person presentations to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Research Managers to develop standards and best practices and oversee the quality of all user research conducted by Design Research Team.
  • Define and measure product performance by using our internal scoring system as part of the research findings report to stakeholders
  • Provide direction and mentorship to junior researchers
  • Evangelize the value of design, UX and research value

 

Requirements: 

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Information Science, related field OR equivalent practical experience
  • 3-4 years’ experience in designing and executing qualitative and quantitative research studies including moderation, analysis and final report presentation to stakeholders
  • Experience running research program, defining and measuring the business value gained with the program and presenting to stakeholders for buy-in
  • Experience integrating user research into an agile product development process
  • Experience setting up user research findings repository and dashboard
  • Vendor administration experience including budget and scope negotiation, facilitating the contracts and procurement, overseeing the delivery
  • Knowledge at working with or supporting research/insights function (Qualitative and Quantitative Research Knowledge)
  • Experience in writing project briefs and scopes of work, estimating & sizing work effort as part of agile cadence and managing research resources
  • Knowledge at using research tools such as Lookback, Optimal Workshop, Eye Tracker and video recording equipment for both desktop and mobile testing (moderated and unmoderated/remote testing)
  • Able to work with lean and agile workflows and implementing process improvements
