About the Role

This role is accountable for commercial leadership of the amaysim business which provides BIG LOVE to 1.2m customers (and growing), generating more than $220m in revenue and continuing to shake-up the mobile industry. The Commercial Director leads across core business functions such as Data & Analytics, Portfolio & Pricing, Product and Proposition, and Business Operations. This includes the Commercial division’s strategic roadmap/objectives, financial planning / analysis, business casing/evaluation, market pricing, portfolio pricing/management, Opex/Capex management, profitability and risk/compliance.


As a key member of the amaysim Senior Leadership Team, you will help shape the strategic direction of the business and drive sustainable growth, continuous improvement and a strong culture of agility, simplicity, reliability, and empathy. The Commercial Director will be responsible for ensuring that all functions across amaysim are aligned to meet commercial outcomes.

Let’s Talk about Your Key Objectives and Challenges – they will Include

  • Work in an environment with constant change and diverse challenges in a competitive market, whilst playing a major role in the development of the growth strategy within the business
  • Optimise pricing to ensure maximum value achieved and balanced against market share goals
  • Understand the cost framework and drivers of the products within the amaysim portfolio
  • Develop product and proposition strategy in a rapidly changing market whilst still delivering on KPIs
  • Understand market trends and quickly develop initiatives to address
  • Build deep understanding of customer base and market through customer insights and market research
  • Support sales and marketing with strategic and tactical pricing/offers within the bounds of the product’s economics
  • Build strong relationships with business partners at executive level within amaysim, Optus and externally and can influence and deliver outstanding outcomes.
  • Keep abreast of technology evolution associated with data and analytics to support and maintain a world class data platform
  • Superior leadership – dealing with a varied direct team and a large extended cross functional team


About You

We are looking for the following skills, attributes and experience

  • Telco industry experience
  • 10+ years in P&L/commercial leadership role        
  • High degree of commercial acumen and  Strategic thinking        
  • Ability to prioritise and manage conflicting objectives        
  • Technical system understanding and acumen        
  • Understanding of operational practices and processes across business functions        
  • Notable alignment to amaysim  company values        
  • Negotiation skills and Interpersonal / relationship building
