Finance Associate

This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records of projects as well as ensure proper governance of project management during project duration.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and review of month end revenue and cost accruals.
  • Review and analyse pre-close project exceptions and take necessary actions to rectify the financials accurately.
  • Review and respond to month end queries on YTD loss and exceptional project margins.
  • Manage external auditors on quarterly audit queries and documentation related to projects exceptions.
  • Provide Delivery & Business Centers with governance advice and support to Project Managers (PM) on project delivery matters.
  • Monitor project exceptions for projects with no contract, No budget, projects past end date, cost overrun, PTD loss, YTD loss and projected loss. Follow up promptly on corrective actions and ensure that exceptions are resolved on timely basis.
  • Review project health status and alert if any potential risk on onerous and potential loss-making projects. Follow up with PMs on action items such as rectifying the financials where needed or highlight to management where necessary.
  • Participate in internal project meetings with the delivery team and provide financial and governance advice.
  • Follow up with PMs on actions required for aged accrued revenue to ensure billing is done as soon as possible to maximise the company’s cashflow position.
  • Advise PM on processes, usage of project systems and project monitoring reports.
  • Review project costsheets for sales registration and determine project structure and project creation
  • Review Contract Cancellation/Termination, Contract Variation & Changes requested by BC/SDC and recommend follow-up action and seek approval for Agreement cancellation or award.
  • Conducting PM boot camp training session for new PMs.
  • Lead in system enhancements discussions and perform user acceptance testing.
  • Support process improvement projects


The Ideal Candidate


  • Degree in Accountancy or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 - 3 years of relevant working experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Organised, detailed and proactive and self-motivated.
  • Independent and strong team player with ability to build rapport and collaborative working relationships with all levels.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills. 
  • Communicate with confidence, clarity and credibility (both written and verbal). 
  • Able to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
