Finance Manager (Compliance/ Project Financials)

This role will assist the Associate Director in providing support on the accounting treatment of projects financials, operationalisation of contracts under the current FRS115 Revenue standard and ensuring compliance to accounting standards and meeting all external audit requirements.

 

The incumbent will also provide direct support and advisory to the Customer Fronting Unit (CFU)/ Line Of Business Heads (LOB) and Business Centres (BC)/ Service Delivery Centres (SDC) Heads in project financials and governance, which includes project exceptions and accrued revenue monitoring, project code structure creations, processes and systems relating to projects.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance of project accounting to Financial Reporting Standards. Provide guidance to team members on accounting treatment for project related financials. In addition, provide support to business units and delivery teams in their operations by providing interpretative guidance/ information on contract/ project financial management to determine the relevant requirements for project structures setup & cost / revenue recognition per accounting standards.
  • Liaison with external auditors on quarterly audit queries and documentation related to projects exceptions. 
  • Actively support the month-end closing activities in relation to project accounting to ensure accurate and timely revenue and cost recognition. Review and highlight to business center support on month end queries on YTD loss and exceptional project margins.
  • Analyze, track and monitor projects with material margin erosions and project losses. This includes review and track project health status and alert if any potential risk on onerous and potential loss-making projects. Follow up with PMs on action items such as rectifying the financials where needed or highlight to PRC Secretariat where necessary. Prepare and follow up on status of project losses for management reporting.
  • Review with LOB Heads, and SDDs on outstanding accrued revenue aging and finding reasons for any delay in billings. This is to ensure promptness in project billings to customers to improve cash flow position of the Group.
  • Provide monthly report and review with LOB Heads and SDDs on Project Exceptions and advise on actions to clear the financial exceptions.
  • Conduct on-boarding training sessions on project financials for Project Managers etc.
  • Lead in processes improvements and systems enhancements in relation to project financials.
  • Undertake other projects/ assignments from time to time.

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Accounting degree with 5 years of relevant working experience
  • Strong working knowledge of project management, process improvement, or financial analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel-Macro, Word, Powerpoint).
  • Organized, detailed, proactive, and self-motivated.
  • Independent and strong team player with ability to build rapport and collaborative working relationships with all levels.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and good communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Able to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
  • Aptitude for Automation & Digitalisation initiatives.
