Be a Part of Something BIG!
The Forward Deployed Engineer Intern supports Singtel's AI transformation by helping the team explore, prototype, and validate AI-native solutions for enterprise use cases. The role provides hands-on exposure to how AI-first teams sense emerging technologies, translate opportunities into working demonstrations, and prepare promising ideas for further engineering review.
The intern will contribute across the early innovation lifecycle, from market scanning and rapid PoC development to testing, documentation, and demo preparation. Working closely with Forward Deployed Engineers, AI engineers, solution architects, and platform teams, the intern will help turn ambiguous business problems into practical experiments and lightweight workflows.
Designed for a curious AI-native builder, this internship emphasises learning through delivery. The intern is expected to bring strong initiative, a willingness to experiment, and disciplined documentation habits while operating under appropriate supervision for production, security, architectural, and stakeholder decisions
Make an Impact by:
- Support market sensing and research on the latest AI, GenAI, agentic AI, and enterprise automation trends to identify opportunities for experimentation.
- Assist in building proof-of-concept (PoC) AI and GenAI solutions that validate ideas, technologies, and business use cases under guidance from engineers and product leads.
- Contribute to improving selected prototypes through testing, debugging, documentation, and lightweight enhancements that support readiness for further engineering review.
- Experiment with AI models, tools, frameworks, prompts, and workflow patterns to compare feasibility, performance, and practical value.
- Help design and develop AI-native workflows, agents, scripts, or lightweight applications for internal demonstrations and pilot use cases.
- Partner with Forward Deployed Engineers, AI engineers, solution architects, and platform teams to understand requirements and support the handover of promising prototypes.
- Apply basic software engineering practices, including modular code, version control, test cases, and clear technical documentation, with coaching from senior team members.
- Act as an AI-first learner and advocate by preparing demos, sharing learnings, and helping teams understand how working AI solutions can improve productivity.
- Document experiment outcomes, technical assumptions, implementation notes, and production considerations to support reuse, refinement, and scaling decisions.
Skills for Success:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, AI/ML, or a related field.
- Hands-on project, coursework, hackathon, internship, or personal-build experience involving AI, GenAI, automation, data, or software development.
- Basic AI-first and AI-native engineering mindset.
- Working knowledge of Python and rapid prototyping workflows.
- Familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, APIs, notebooks, or experimentation workflows.
- Ability to test, debug, document, and improve lightweight AI prototypes.
- Curious, proactive learner with strong ownership of assigned tasks.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and iterating quickly based on feedback.
- Ability to communicate technical learnings clearly through demos and documentation.
- Strong collaboration habits when working with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders.
- Awareness of enterprise AI considerations such as security, scalability, maintainability, responsible AI usage, and user adoption.
Good to Have
- Coursework, projects, or certifications in AI, machine learning, software engineering, cloud, or technology management.
- Prior exposure to enterprise technology, startup projects, open-source work, or production-oriented software engineering practices.
- Exposure to agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, CI/CD, containers, or Deployed concepts.
- Open-source contributions, hackathon participation, or community projects.
- Interest in thought leadership through blogs, demos, talks, student communities, or AI ecosystem engagement.
