As Infra Engr, Systems & DBA, the broad area of your job responsibilities will cover the following: 

  • Support and patch all software installed in the reference end client machines and test computers setup, with their future releases and future new installations. 
  • The patches applied on the reference machines will be made available to all machines used within the designated project. These shall include, and not limited to the followings:
    • Operating Systems
    • BIOS & drivers
    • Office tools such as Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook, Acrobat Reader, etc
    • Project specific software such as commercial software or in-house developed software systems
    • All installed system software, including backup, performance tools, personal firewall
    • Anti-virus utilities, e.g. Symantec Endpoint Protection
  • Manage and ensure timely patching deliverables conform to client patch management processes within the SLA given; define and provide test methodologies to test the patches; identify and manage risk and mitigation strategies; identify, analyse and ensure resolution of issues; manage change control.
  • Carry out monthly maintenance to back-up data and patch the Servers OS, monitor client performance measurement for client environments after every patching; and maintain records of the performance measurement taken.
  • Provide 2nd line of support to address client related queries, incidents and requests reported on ground.
  • Track system defects reported by users. Ensure prompt resolution is provided by the Contractors to the defects reported.
  • Administer user, computer accounts, and group policies in the Active Directory to support technology exploration projects. 
  • Maintain up-to-date project end client images and test kits to assist users with software testing and certification.
  • Manage Change Requests (CR) that include tracking of CR raised; review of CR effort; assess impact and solution proposed by Requestors; facilitate users in CR testing.
  • Propose, document and implement improvements to the current work processes to mitigate issues or improve current operation.
  • Perform hardware and software evaluations and produce report of the evaluation conducted.
  • Manage and update the images & SOP to support current and future requirements.
  • Troubleshoot software / hardware together with vendors to determine the cause of the problem.
  • Provide test status and reports to Project Manager for decision and actions.

 

Ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Diploma or Certification in Information Systems or equivalent discipline
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in similar roles
  • Work with and/or lead a team of engineers/consultants to deliver our contractual obligations in the projects
  • Pick up domain knowledge and competency in the relevant key software products used in the projects, and scripting/coding for automation
  • Ensure that deliverables are achieved on time and of good quality
  • Provide support on issues and deployment or maintenance exercises (during and/or after office hours)
  • Work with junior team members on project assessment, planning and implementation
  • Preferably experience in Cover end client management, test administration, software / hardware validation and support
