This role will serve as the end-to-end architect for Optus’ multi-year CIAM transformation, ensuring secure, seamless and compliant digital identity experiences for millions of customers.
- The Senior Architect CIAM will lead architecture and design decisions across customer identity verification, digital identity, authentication, and authorisation.
- They will ensure all solutions align with the strategic CIAM roadmap, uplift Optus’ identity security posture, meet regulatory obligations, and deliver improved customer outcomes.
- The position will embed deeply with CIAM product and platform teams, safeguard Optus’ architectural IP, and drive standardisation across all channels.
- Evaluate existing and new solutions as part of CIAM technology implementation strategy and work out plans to rollout these solutions to support business needs and growth.
- Participate in Customer Identity Management product selection and evaluation activities.
- What You’ll Do
Lead end-to-end solution architecture across all CIAM initiatives, ensuring alignment with the CIAM strategy, roadmap, and cyber security standards. - Design and govern identity solutions spanning Digital ID, identity verification services, authentication, and authorisation (including MFA, FIDO2, SCIM, OIDC).
- Define architecture patterns, reusable components, and reference designs to ensure consistency, simplification, and repeatable adoption across delivery teams.
- Partner with product, cyber security, engineering, and platform teams to validate designs, ensure control effectiveness, and embed secure-by-design principles.
- Provide architectural oversight across delivery phases, including discovery, HLSD/DD, assurance reviews, vendor designs, and production readiness.
- Maintain architectural integrity by identifying risks, deviations, design gaps, and advising mitigation options.
- Build and retain CIAM solution IP within Optus, reducing reliance on external providers and ensuring continuity across multi-year workstreams.
What You’ll Bring
- Deep expertise across CIAM domains: digital identity, identity verification, authentication/authorisation, federation, and access control models.
- Strong grasp of identity security controls and standards (FIDO2, OAuth/OIDC, Zero Trust principles, adaptive and contextual access).
- Proven ability to lead large-scale, cross-functional architectural initiatives with enterprise-wide impact.
- Ability to translate business needs and compliance requirements into secure, scalable architectural designs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills at senior levels.
- Strong risk identification, control design, and secure-by-design mindset.
- Solid understanding of architectural best practices with experience implementing large digital platforms.
