Job Summary

 

The Business Program Manager position sits in the Delivery team of EPMO within the Consumer Division and reports to the Associate Director – Program Management.

The prime responsibility of this position is the program management and successful realisation of strategic & technology convergence type programs for agreed financial benefits & customer experience outcomes across one or more of Optus’ strategic business units. The role is responsible for driving programs on time, on budget and delivering optimum customer experience, often within a complex and changing internal/external business environment.

The key to success for the Delivery team is the provision of a full-service, end-to-end business outcome focused program delivery, spanning the technical, commercial, change management and operational handover aspects of programs. Significant and complex program level delivery experience requiring significant stakeholder expectation management, along with technical telecommunication exposure, coupled with a high level of business acumen is expected in order to succeed in this role.

 

 

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

  • Program Management :
    • Define Program requirements through accurately establishing customer expectations and analysing stakeholders’ interests;
    • Define and document the scope and specifics of the Program;
    • Analyse tasks and develop an accurate schedule to fulfil Program deliverables;
    • Identify, analyse and refine Program costs to produce a budget;
    • Monitor, review and report Program quality and deliverables;
    • Identify and formulate a risk management plan for a Program and assure Program continuity.
  • Initiative sponsor and business unit stakeholder relationship management
  • Ensuring customer experience parameters are driven to conclusion within programs
  • Introduce and maintain program management processes in conjunction with the Delivery Governance Office (DGO)
  • Contribute to and work effectively within a complex and matrix team environment

Experience and Qualifications

 

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent in Business, IT, Engineering or other aligned discipline
  • Professional certification (e.g. PMP, Prince2, etc.)
  • 10 years’ experience managing capital programs within the IT/Telecommunications or Financial Services sectors
  • Demonstrated success in directly managing large, complex programs (integration of 5+ systems, initiative budgets in excess of $5m+)
  • Proven track record in successfully managing a delivery team (10+ resources) in matrix reporting environment
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively and respond appropriately to unexpected circumstances
  • Address ambiguity in an appropriate and decisive manner
  • Proven track record in coaching, mentoring and developing team members; successfully managing performance to achieve continuous improvement of team capabilities
  • Works autonomously and proactively
  • Formal training in Project Management disciplines

 

Desired experience, understanding or credentials in:

 

  • Commercial business case modelling
  • Agile/Iterative methodology use in new product development delivery 
  • System Integration technical consulting experience
