About the Role

Keeping customers connected to each other, their work, their entertainment and their wellbeing is at the core of why Optus exists. As a UI Design Chapter Lead, you’ll be driven to optimise our customers’ ability to be and stay connected, through ensuring digital designs are simple and easy to use and meet real user needs. As a Chapter Lead, you’re a role model of Optus leadership fundamentals and demonstrate the attributes of a servant leader valuing diverse opinions, cultivating trust and encouraging contribution of new ideas. You’ll bring alignment and consistency on the application of Visual/UI Design methods, standards and tools across multiple Agile Squads and Tribes. Ensuring Optus products, services and interfaces follow the CX design principles making customer experience central to every design. You’ll manage recruitment, personal development and the performance cycle for 6-8 talented chapter members. You will proactively mentor and establish practices that encourage mastery of domain skills. Your influence in design culture will span the organisation, using your experience and stakeholder management skills to bring stakeholders and peers into a design-centric culture. As a Chapter Lead, you will be responsible for the oversight of your team members’ work across a number of squads and initiatives, providing design reviews and assisting with complex problem resolution.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the interface between Digital, Brand and Marketing. Form strong relationships with key stakeholders to improve consistency and quality across all digital channels
  • Lead the roll out of the Design System in Figma
  • Improve the consistency of visual design across all digital channels i.e. optus.com.au, My Optus App, EDMs
  • Work with the front end development Chapter Leads to improve efficiencies between the skill sets
  • Be proactive and champion visual design improvements that need to be made across all digital channels
  • Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards across all channels by upskilling and empowering the chapter members
  • Manage chapter recruitment, development and performance review cycles
  • Work collaboratively with the Experience Design Chapter Leads
  • Collaborate with Product Owner, and Agile Coach to resolve impediments and future proof chapter
  • Make customer experience central through every design and effectively measure impact
  • Participate in your squad ceremonies and deliver quality outputs

  

About You

We are looking for the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual or Interaction Design, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Mixed Media
  • Leading design teams, with 8+ years in Product Design or UX/UI role
  • Human Centred Design and Experimentation Frameworks
  • Working with Brand and/or Marketing teams and agencies        
  • Emerging technologies for CMS, Optimisation, User Testing, Personalisation, Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality.
  • Designing for Digital interfaces – responsive, web and app
  • Strong typography and visual design skills
  • Experience with Optus preferred tools: Figma, Invision, Sketch, Google Analytics, Photoshop
  • HTML, CSS and Javascript
