About the Role

The Analytics Engineer will be responsible for to modelling raw data into clean, tested, and reusable datasets to make it easier for business & data analysts, data scientists and other stakeholders to view and understand our data in a warehouse or database. Since data models are created around business needs, the job of analytics engineers is to define the rules and requirements for the formats and attributes of data. The ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders, namely Enterprise data engineers, data modelers, solution architects, business & data analysts, and data scientists, to align business requirements with data assets is essential.

In collaboration with Data Governance, Analytics Engineer will also be responsible for producing and maintaining data documentation to ensure that everyone uses the same definitions and language. This involves providing identifiable and understandable descriptions of data as well as exposing them in a way for all consumers to find answers to their queries unassisted. They will also define the metrics to be used and measures to be taken to guarantee data is accurate and fit for operational and analytics needs The role will also ensure that all faults and errors are identified and resolved within agreed SLAs and will own and manage communications relating to these scenarios to ensure that the end user base is always aware of the state of the data they consume. In addition, the role will proactively monitor and test the integrity of the data and ensure that any issues are promptly resolved to ensure maximum availability of the data to stakeholders.


About You 

We are looking for the following skills, attributes and experience;

  • Experience in an IT or data environment, working with cloud-based data solutions
  • Experience working with relational databases and data lakes, with an emphasis on data warehousing, performance tuning, and analytics use cases
  • Experience in advanced SQL, particularly in modelling and querying optimisations
  • Hands-on experience with ETL/data pipeline development experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
