Senior Fraud Data Scientist

The Group Credit Risk division as part of Optus Group Finance has an opportunity for a Senior Fraud Risk Data Scientist. In the role you’ll report to the Strategy and Analytics Manager. Group Credit Risk is responsible for the overall credit management function including Credit risk acquisitions Fraud, Collections and Recoveries.

  • Demonstrated ability to execute data processing tasks, including data auditing, preparation, integration, transformation and aggregation using “SQL” AND “R”
  • Demonstrated ability to think of different use-cases that can be solved by data analytics (Consulting)
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the difficulties and challenges of dealing with spatial data OR demonstrated ability to work with variety of data types
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate different analytical approaches that can be applied to solve a problem, select the most suitable one and justify the selection
  • Demonstrated ability to apply machine learning algorithms and techniques for developing sophisticated predictive and segmentation models to solve complex business problems
  • Demonstrated ability to present complex business problems into clear business recommendations
  • Solid understanding of key business drivers and targets
  • Strong grasp of Credit, Fraud acquisition and collections concepts

About you

Preferred skills and experience include:

  • 5 years of experience in a Finance/Data science role with experience in data modelling/ability to business case/perform evaluations
  • Credit management/risk management experience
  • Experience in Fraud risk scorecard modelling
  • 5 years’ experience in a Data science role applying complex machine learning algorithms to solve business problems
  • Experience engaging senior stakeholders in tackling business problems and presenting business recommendations
  • Great communication skills and ability to build relationships with diverse teams
  • Have intense curiosity - a desire to go beneath the surface of a problem, find the questions at its heart and distil them into a very clear set of hypotheses that can be tested
