We’re looking for an experienced Associate Director – Networks Business Improvement to lead the design, rollout and embedding of improved processes and ways of working across our Networks function.
In this senior leadership role, you’ll set a clear improvement roadmap, simplify complex delivery environments, and partner closely with leaders and teams to drive measurable, sustainable outcomes. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring new ways of working are aligned with governance, risk and compliance requirements — and that they are truly embedded into day‑to‑day operations.
This role suits a confident, pragmatic leader who thrives in complexity and enjoys turning strategy into action.
What you’ll do
- Lead and optimise the implementation of Networks Business Process Excellence within your assigned Networks Division
- Develop and manage a clear business improvement roadmap, including priorities, sequencing, ownership and success measures
- Identify process gaps and improvement opportunities using data, observation and structured problem‑solving techniques
- Design and implement improved end‑to‑end processes in partnership with process excellence specialists
- Ensure new processes meet governance, risk and compliance requirements and are successfully adopted
- Partner with Change & Adoption leads to embed change through communication, training and reinforcement
- Track and report on benefits realisation, including time savings, quality improvements and cycle time reductions
- Remove delivery barriers and resolve cross‑functional issues that impact improvement outcomes
- Provide financial input and oversight for initiative costs (Opex and Capex) within agreed budgets
- Lead quality assurance activities, including start‑up, health checks and closure reviews
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications in business, engineering, operations or equivalent experience
- Significant experience leading business improvement or transformation in complex, matrix environments
- Strong understanding of end‑to‑end delivery lifecycles, governance and operational controls
- Proven capability in process design, mapping and implementation
- Practical change management experience — you can implement change, not just design it
- A data‑driven mindset with the ability to define measures and demonstrate benefits realised
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across technical and non‑technical teams
- Resilience, accountability and comfort navigating ambiguity and resistance
- Familiarity with network operating environments
What’s in it for you
- Blended ways of working — 3 days in the office, 2 days remote, with flexible hours to suit
- Discounts on Optus products and services
- Inclusive, gender‑neutral paid parental leave (up to 16 weeks)
- Competitive leave, including additional ‘Connected Leave’ days (where applicable)
- Access to wellbeing resources, webinars and support through Optus wellbeing platforms
- A vibrant, collaborative campus environment with cafes, gym, GP, post office, childcare and more
- Career development through extensive online and facilitator‑led learning opportunities
- Novated car leasing and other financial benefits
- Employee‑led networks and communities including Elevate Women, Express Yourself (LGBTQIA+), Disability Network, United Veterans, Wellbeing Network, Culture Connect and more
