The Account Director, NSW Government is a senior sales and leadership role responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of State Government clients in New South Wales, currently generating $18.5M+ in annual revenue, with an expectation to grow to $40M+ within 3–5 years.

This role is accountable for building and maintaining strong executive relationships, driving revenue growth, increasing market share, and delivering profitable outcomes across Optus’ core offerings, including telco, ICT, cyber, CX/EX, and managed services. It leads complex, enterprise-level engagements, working with a matrix of pre-sales, specialist teams, and strategic partners to deliver innovative, customer-centric solutions.

The Account Director also drives co-creation initiatives with customers and partners, enhances Optus’ brand presence, influences procurement, and secures new business across departments, Local Health Districts, and agencies. In addition, the role provides leadership across sales execution, governance, and performance, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and operational excellence.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver against TCVPOM, Mobile Adds (NA), and Revenue targets while maintaining strong pipeline coverage
  • Develop and execute Account Plans to drive acquisition, retention, and growth outcomes
  • Strengthen governance across focus accounts to ensure structured execution and accountability
  • Identify, prioritise, and progress major pursuit opportunities supported by executive engagement
  • Maintain forecast accuracy, CRM data quality, and compliance completion across all requirements
  • Drive recognition and engagement

 

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of relationship sales experience in IT/Telecommunications, with a strong track record of building long-term partnerships and strategic account growth
  • Demonstrate proven ability to develop and execute strategic business plans aligned to customer and organisational objectives
  • Apply leadership experience across direct and matrixed teams, driving alignment, collaboration, and performance outcomes
  • Leverage a well-established network within the NSW ICT community to create opportunities, engage and collaborate with partners and strengthen market presence
  • Deliver consistent sales growth through acquisition strategies, expanding market share and winning new business
  • Build and sustain high customer loyalty in relationship-led environments, driving retention, trust, and long-term value
