About the Role

Reporting to the Associate Director Data Analytics, the Analytic Lead – 5G will lead the strategy and planning of data insights and optimisation activities within the 5G team. The role is critical to the success of the 5G rollout and network experience improvements enabling Optus to achieve our Unique Customer Connections and Digital Everywhere goals. 


Responsibilities will include:

Key contributor to 5G and Network Experience Analytics & Data Insights Strategy - Develop clear roadmap for 5G analytics strategy; Develop and maintain 5G objectives and key results ensuring alignment with company vision & purpose, reviewing and updating to ensure continued delivery of best in class network experiences; Guide and direct the 5G rollout strategy to reach its 5G site targets by proactively monitoring our business case targets and providing commercially backed recommendations to optimise investments; Advocate and educate the Analytics Community and key stakeholders on data driven analytical technologies, promoting a data culture across Optus and raising data literacy


Presentation of 5G and Network Experience Insights to Senior Leaders - Clear communication of 5G opportunity areas proactively identified through data insights, articulating possible actions and measurement strategies for new initiatives to stakeholders up to ExCo level

And Provide input into Quarterly Business Reviews, the Annual Operating Plan and establishing KPIs/OKRs.


Performing Structured Analysis & Making Recommendations - Enablement of data driven decision-making from proactive insights that will drive a step change Optus’ understanding of customer behaviours and needs; Structured approach to analysis and clear presentation of recommendations on strategic business priorities through analytically driven insights leveraging a variety of complex internal and external data sources; Develop a solid knowledge of Optus business metrics, ongoing performance drivers and strategic levers. 


Analysis Planning and Problem Solving - Efficient, timely and accurate delivery of data analysis and Consolidate information from first party digital assets within Optus and third party vendor managed platforms to create holistic views of digital asset performance.


Best Practice Analytics Capability - Support the delivery of the Analytics strategy by growing our Analytics capability and raising the data literacy of the organisation through proactively delivering a range of sophisticated solutions for Optus including innovative new/improved analytical models, technologies and techniques and Gather requirements, document, design, test, implement and optimise analytical assets and self-service analytical solutions with a focus on scalable solutions that have impact at every level across the organisation from squad/tribe/business unit/Optus.


Engagement & Collaboration - Engage with stakeholders on projects, working closely with the Sales, Service, Product, Networks, Customer Marketing, Commercial, Content, Brand & Communications, and other Optus groups and stakeholders and Continuously contributing to the systems and processes designed for prioritisation and engagement.


About You

We are looking for the following skills, attributes and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a STEM discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, Engineering, Statistics)
  • Advanced SQL and data manipulation skills across multiple languages & toolsets
  • Analytics / Visualisation / Data tool vendor certification (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik, Alteryx, GCP etc)
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience working in large, complex matrixed organisations        •        
  • Experience in a Digital environment
  • Experience in Telecommunications industry
  • Advanced knowledge of Visualisation techniques and tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik, etc)
  • Advanced insight generation skills         
  • Proven ability to solve complex, ambiguous challenges
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
