Position Summary


The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of the different systems, theories and practices relevant to a function as well as practical experience of multiple business domains. The job is likely to be involved in both internal and external negotiations including regulatory bodies, which will have a major impact on the area managed, and possibly on other related areas and the organisation as a whole.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead and deliver data stewardship activities across Optus. Task and priories work and activities and quality assure work and develop staff.
  • Manage changes/updates to implementation of data stewardship, inclusive of coordinating any execution plans that need to be developed to ensure oversight and control of data stewards across the company.
  • Operate as a change agent across Optus, guiding and directing various stewards activities, focusing on growing the maturity level within the company.
  • Develop oversight framework for data swards.
  • Lead data stewards forums and steering groups.
  • Provide the ability to connect the dots across various data initiatives-defining and executing the data initiatives alignment framework and on-going processes.
  • Educate and train data steward teams across lines of business to understand the components of the Enterprise technology solutions and how to comply with the governance policy.
  • Lead and guide ExCo and senior leadership teams in the use and management of stewards and their activities, ensuring value for money and professional development.
  • Work with the Enterprise Data Management team to align policy requirements to the data management procedures and guidelines


Experience and Qualifications


  • 15+ years of experience in delivering data teams, with 10+ years' managerial experience, including experience leading large, cross-functional teams across engineering, program management, risk & control, and data analytics.
  • Leadership and business acumen & or experience to lead large cross functional initiatives
  • Excellent relationship management, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to accurately determine length and difficulty of tasks and projects
  • Has a strategic perspective; looks toward the broadest possible view of an issue or challenge; can easily pose future scenarios; can think globally; and can discuss multiple aspects and impacts of issues and project them into the future
  • Understanding from multiple countries the data management regulations, best practices and how it impacts the financial services industry while driving value out of high-quality data.
  • Experience in affecting large culture change
  • Capability to define a well thought out organizational strategy and execute on an associated operational plan.
  • Leadership skills: individual leadership, change leadership, mentorship, motivation, coaching and development, and the ability to galvanize the support of others where possible
  • Delivery of high-quality strategic large-scale projects
