The Associate Director, Transport Reliability Engineering works closely with cross‑functional business units, divisions and external partners to provide strategic, operational, risk and governance support across Network Engineering initiatives. The role is accountable for end‑to‑end Problem and Change Management, lifecycle governance, business continuity planning, CSRC consulting, and Lab management, while driving proactive initiatives to improve network reliability and availability across allocated domains and services.
Your day to day will consist of
- Contribute to the development and lead the implementation of network assurance strategies, protocols, and best practices to minimise downtime and optimise network operations.
- Investigate, develop, and deploy new features or designs to improve the reliability and availability of existing infrastructure.
- Coach and mentor team members, as required.
- Lead the PIRs for Network Engineering and represent the Division across all problem management related engagements.
- Manage the change advisory board process, qualifications, approvals including seeking appropriate SLT approvals.
- Ensure respective platform owners are tracking to EOL & EOS replacement and compliance to CSRC guidelines.
- Drive education and awareness of effective problem, change and life cycle management.
- Act as a Subject matter Expert for the relevant technology areas.
What makes you perfect for the role
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with CCNP/CCIE‑level network certification or equivalent experience.
- Over 10 years’ engineering experience in the telecommunications industry with deep expertise in PSTN and telecom networking.
- Proven ability to design and deliver complex engineering solutions, translating strategy into scalable, cost‑effective, low‑risk implementations.
- Strong experience in product design and rollout across fixed and mobile services (Residential, SMB, Business), including Fixed‑Mobile Convergence (FMC).
- Expert knowledge of IP routing, MPLS, QoS, network virtualisation, 4 & 5G Mobile Network Technologies, Voice over IP, SDH transmission, OSS (Network management), Intelligent Network elements, Data Centre switching, Firewall, Perimeter Security, Cyber Security & Automation
- Demonstrated success leading matrixed delivery teams, driving change initiatives, and coaching and mentoring high‑performing teams.
- Strong commercial acumen, project planning skills, customer focus, risk mitigation expertise, and ability to meet regulatory, security, and contractual obligations.
