Optus is an Australian telecommunications company, delivering more than 11 million services to our customers every day across mobile, broadband and digital solutions.

The Change and Release Analyst leads the end‑to‑end lifecycle of changes and releases across Enterprise customer systems and applications. The role ensures changes are assessed, tested, approved, and deployed with minimal impact to business services, following Optus Enterprise and Business (EB) Service Management processes.

Working within an ITIL‑aligned framework, the analyst collaborates with customers, technical teams, business units, and vendors to balance operational stability with ongoing improvement. The role also supports related ITIL functions such as Incident, Problem, Configuration, and Knowledge Management.

What You’ll Do

  • Be responsible for the Change Management lifecycle by reviewing, assessing, authorising, and scheduling changes in line with ITIL processes, while coordinating CAB meetings and ensuring risks, impacts, and backout plans are understood and documented.
  • Oversee Release Management activities, including planning release schedules, coordinating deployments, maintaining release governance, and ensuring all releases are tested, documented, and communicated effectively.
  • Drive continuous improvement by refining change and release processes, analysing performance metrics, conducting post‑implementation reviews, and identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce service risk.
  • Ensure governance and compliance by carrying out change and release policies, maintaining audit-ready documentation, and ensuring all activities align with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Run specialist tools such as ServiceNow, CI/CD pipelines, automation platforms and the CMDB to support accurate, efficient, and reliable change and release processes.
  • Collaborate across ITIL functions and stakeholder groups, partnering with technical teams, business units, vendors, and related ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Configuration, Knowledge) to ensure seamless service delivery and operational stability.

What You Bring

  • Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain (or holding) AGSVA Baseline clearance, ensuring eligibility for secure government environments.
  • 3+ years’ experience in Change & Release Management within ITIL‑aligned environments, including hands‑on coordination of CAB meetings and end‑to‑end release scheduling.
  • Strong practical understanding of ITIL processes—specifically change, release, and configuration management—supported by an ITIL Foundation Certification.
  • Experience working with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow or Jira, handling changes, releases, and configuration data (CMDB).
  • Experience within DevOps/Agile teams, including exposure to CI/CD and automated deployment tools and cloud release processes.
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and risk‑impact analysis skills, enabling effective stakeholder engagement and the management of multiple concurrent changes in large‑scale enterprise ICT environments highly desirable
