Operating in a technically complex, dynamic and regulated industry, the Corporate Counsel (CC) will be a trusted Advisor and partner to the business, providing legal advice to facilitate commercial decision making and ensuring that all operations of the organisation are legally compliant.

 

Core duties:

  • Support the Optus Enterprise and Business units;
  • Become skilled in the legal issues relating to that Business Area; &
  • Coordinating and continuously improving the provision of legal support, and proactive monitoring of legal developments.

 

You will be supporting stakeholders that provide the full breadth of telecommunications and managed technology solutions and services to large business and government customers, including applications, security, cloud-led ICT, collaboration and contact centres.

 

Additionally, you will regularly be called on to head up projects that are complex or unusual, ensuring that all aspects of legal support for the project are provided.

 

Your background, skills & qualifications ...

 

  • Admitted as a solicitor in one or more states in Australia (or equivalent qualifications from overseas and taking steps to be admitted in Australia);
  • Minimum of 4+ years’ post admission legal experience with in-house experience highly desirable;  
  • Understanding of Telecommunications Act and industry codes, Competition and Consumer Act, plus Privacy Act and Intellectual Property Law is advantageous;
  • Commercial law experience – including negotiating both customer and vendor/supplier agreements; &
  • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously, as well as manage competing priorities and critical issues.
