We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Operations Lead to join our Security Operations team. This role focuses on delivering advanced security management, monitoring, and support services to Optus Enterprise and its clients by providing tailored security solutions that meet client-specific requirements while supporting the broader Information Security Team in achieving strategic objectives.

 

This position combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on technical expertise across multiple cybersecurity domains. You will mentor and guide the team while actively working on automation, tuning, and optimisation of security tools and architecture.The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of security concepts, proven experience across diverse technologies, and the ability to drive continuous improvement. You will also collaborate with product development teams to enhance security capabilities and contribute to strategic projects.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and mentor Security Operations teams, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Suggest and implement enhancements to security architecture, configurations, and operational processes.
  • Drive automation initiatives to streamline operations and reduce manual effort.
  • Provide security expertise to product development teams during design and implementation phases.
  • Integrate and optimise new security technologies within existing environments.
  • Support compliance activities, audits, and client-specific security requirements.
  • Develop and maintain detailed operational procedures and documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver security projects on time and within scope.

 

What Makes You Perfect for the Role

  • 7+ years of experience in Cyber Security Operations with strong hands-on expertise in, SIEM platforms, Firewalls, IPS/IDS, SASE solutions, Web security proxies and Endpoint security technologies
  • At least 2 years of proven leadership managing security teams, including mentoring and guiding technical professionals.
  • Proven experience in automation (e.g., scripting, SOAR platforms) and tuning/optimising security tools.
  • Strong understanding of security concepts, incident management frameworks, and operational best practices.
  • Skilled in data analytics for actionable insights and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, ensuring adaptability across environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, combined with a proactive, detail-oriented approach and strong problem-solving capabilities.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Eligible and willing to obtain Baseline Security Clearance (or higher).
