The Senior Technical Specialist (STS) plays a pivotal role in delivering industry-leading security management, monitoring, administration, and support services to Optus Enterprise and its clients. With expertise across multiple security domains and potential project delivery experience, the STS collaborates with internal and external business partners to provide tailored security solutions and strategic insights for key decisions.
Positioned within the Cyber Defence Operations group, the role supports a diverse range of Australian clients, managing security services such as IAM, web security, and network security, including infrastructure located overseas. The STS also ensures flawless managed infrastructure support and compliance with vendor and third-party maintenance agreements.
Your day to day will consist of...

Coordinate daily operations using platforms like Splunk, Devo, Zscaler (ZIA & ZPA), Cisco FTD, Tenable, Palo Alto, and others to ensure effective security measures.
- Conduct compliance scanning with Tenable, manage risks, and collaborate on remediation plans with system owners.
- Review, analyze, and build customised reports and dashboards to monitor security configurations and guide decision-making.
- Facilitate seamless collaboration between customers and internal teams, ensuring alignment and operational success.
- Develop security hardening specifications, create user documentation, and manage change processes.
- Participate in threat risk assessments, manage incidents, and implement proactive measures to prevent issues.
- Identify improvement opportunities, improve processes, and disseminate advisories on emerging threats to maintain robust security.
What makes you perfect for the role?
- Over 5 years of extensive experience in security operations, specializing in SIEM, firewalls, IPS, web security proxies, and related technologies.
- Proficient in developing security use cases, dashboards, and reports, with strong data analysis skills to interpret and derive actionable insights.
- Advanced user-level experience with IT Service Management tools like ServiceNow for managing security operations.
- Experienced in supporting client and external audits with a detailed understanding of security incident frameworks.
- Skilled in crafting and refining procedures, work instructions, and other process documentation.
- Superb communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills to manage outcomes and team contributions.
- Proactive, determined, and committed to delivering impactful contributions to security operations and organizational success.
- Certifications in Zscaler and Cisco firewalls are highly desirable.
