As the Director, Critical Network Services at Optus, you will be at the forefront of designing, delivering, and managing foundational network service platforms. This pivotal role ensures the reliability, security, and scalability of the platforms that underpin broadband, enterprise, and mobile service delivery, supporting seamless connectivity and operational excellence. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and specialists, driving platform modernisation, automation, and observability initiatives. Your strategic vision and technical expertise will build the future of our critical network services, ensuring compliance and delivering outstanding customer experiences.

 

 

What You’ll Do 

 

  • Contribute to and complete the strategic roadmap for critical network services.
  • Lead transformation efforts, including platform modernisation, automation, and resilience uplift.
  • Coordinate the performance, reliability, and security of critical network service platforms.
  • Drive automation, observability, and proactive fault management across platforms.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement for service-impacting events.
  • Manage vendor relationships for hardware, software, and service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal security policies.
  • Assess new technologies and frameworks for their suitability in critical network services.

 

 

What You Bring 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering - Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 12+ years in network/platform engineering, 5+ years in leadership roles.
  • Deep expertise in AAA (RADIUS, TACACS+), DHCP, provisioning, access control, and authentication/authorisation platforms.
  • Advanced Linux server administration and experience with virtualisation and containerisation.
  • Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases and implementation of monitoring tools.
  • Strong knowledge of platform and network security guidelines and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven track record in coaching and mentoring team members and managing team performance.
