Job Summary

 

Lead the master planning of Optus’ Infrastructure Facilities, engineering and construction projects for Optus’ Exchanges, Data Centres, laboratory, metro and regional aggregation and fibre nodes.

 

Develop the strategies and planning of Optus’ facilities, including long range forecasting of future requirements and establishment of new facilities to meet Optus’ future growth and expansion. Lead planning for facilities infrastructure (including power, air-conditioning, fire resilience), across all exchanges and data centres, establishing a solid foundation for a resilient Optus network

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage stakeholders’ expectation (especially c-suite) in planned maintenance activities, risk assessment, WSH compliance, impact analysis and scheduling.
  • Provide management oversight to ensure compliance with best-in-class practices and to industry codes and standards
  • Develop strategies to ensure that facilities related fit out projects (e.g., power, cooling, racking) are able to meet users business needs including, costs, time to deliver/implement and compliance with technical and regulatory requirements. Ensure best in class, innovative solutions are brought to Optus’ infrastructure in the delivery of these projects.
  • Conduct periodic assets and facilities audits to identify areas for people/processes/platform improvements, cyclical replacement of aging / end-of-life equipment and Service Level Agreements.
  • Oversee the energy audit, conservation, and management process and implement green initiatives including implementation of energy conservation measures as part of the cost transformation initiatives undertaken by SingTel and regulatory compliance (BCA Green Mark or better).
  • Perform joint operational risk assessment with Risk Management during annual Facilities Risk Review (FRR) exercise.
  • Provide a technical leadhouse function across other Networks divisions, providing technical knowledge and guidance for all power, cooling and civil requirements.
  • Lead the energy procurement function within Optus, establishing strategies to manage future energy costs through procurement initiatives while driving the organization to improve efficiency and lower consumption of energy. Oversee the adequate procurement of carbon offsets to meet Optus’ sustainability goals and commitments.

 

Experience and Qualifications

 

  • Qualifications -Internationally recognised professional qualifications, preferably at the post graduate level from an internationally renowned institution
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience with 7 years in an executive management position
  • Digital Transformation: Track record of delivering and driving innovative technology transformation aligned with business expectations. Ideally has experience with customer-focused digital solutions.
