Enterprise Information Architect

Job Summary

 

This position enables DPM of group IT to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Developing, publishing and maintaining the information architecture – current, transitional and target architecture, aligned to business, IT and other architectural targets and strategies. 
  2. Establish strong collaborative influencing relationships with business & IT management and industry/partners
  3. Providing architecture direction through the provision of target architectures and roadmaps
  4. Providing significant contributions to enterprise architecture governance working closely with the Data Governance team and as a core member of the architecture review board.
  5. Plan with vision and foresight to provide high quality data, to identify and define common information requirements, to design conceptual structures and plans to meet the current and long-term data requirements of the enterprise

 

Role Responsibility

 

  1. Taking a governance responsibility for the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Information Management Framework.
  2. Developing the information architecture target architecture, aligned to business, IT and other architectural targets and strategies. 
  3. Keeping fully abreast of emerging information and data trends and technologies, determining their value-add potential and socializing and promoting their use among the relevant stakeholders. 
  4. Development and maintenance of enterprise-level information artefacts, such as Conceptual Data Models and Enterprise Data and Information Models.
  5. Providing information architect services in the form of consultancy, direction or architectural design for programs with a significant or complex information focus.
  6. Engage key business and technology stakeholders and continually assess and publish domain architecture implications, opportunities, constraints and risks.
  7. Implementing Information Lifecycle Management disciplines and data governance frameworks whilst ensuring awareness of key industry trends and new technologies.
  8. Engaging and collaborating with both business and technology stakeholders to understand business drivers & strategies to inform the development of the target information architecture and roadmaps

 

Experience and Qualifications

 

  • Degree qualified in Business management, IT, Computer Systems, software or computer engineering fields or equivalent.
  • 10+ years commercial IT experience, ideally with 5 years in senior IT/business partnership roles
  • 5+ years of experience in relational & dimensional data modeling, process modeling and designing and performance tuning of large scale data warehouses.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in RDBMS (Teradata), Big Data (Cloudera), ETL (Informatica Power Centre/BDM), Metadata management and BI analytics tools.
  • Experienced in Data Quality/Data Governance initiatives.
  • Solid understanding of metadata management best practices with experience implementing or operating a metadata repository.
  • Good understanding of Telco DW solutions.
  • In-depth experience designing and implementing information solutions. 
  • System integration experience, including interface design, and familiarity with web-oriented architecture techniques.
  • Data-modelling and information classification expertise at the enterprise level.
  • Understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models.
  • Understanding and applying structured techniques (data-modelling) to less-structured sources.
  • Knowledge of Master Data Management, Business Information, and Data warehouse design and implementation techniques.
