We are seeking a Lead Engineer – DNS is a technical authority responsible for the design, reliability, security, and performance of enterprise and internet facing DNS services in Service Provider Network. The role provides L3 escalation for complex DNS issues, leads root cause analysis across multiple layers, and drives continuous improvement in DNS architecture, operational readiness, and service assurance.

 

This role works in a shared delivery environment, partnering with platform, infrastructure, automation, and security stakeholders to achieve end to end DNS outcomes.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Define and maintain Service Provider DNS architecture, standards, and build patterns across authoritative and recursive DNS services.
  • Act as the point of contact for complex DNS incidents, leading deep diagnostics and root cause analysis of blocking issues.
  • Own DNS security build and assurance, including DNSSEC strategy and operational readiness.
  • Define telemetry and monitoring requirements for DNS services to ensure operational readiness.
  • Deliver DNS SME expertise across various DNS delivery platforms, encompassing F5 BIG-IP DNS and open-source software DNS servers.
  • Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, automation, and security partners to achieve end-to-end DNS outcomes.

 

What You Bring

  • Expert understanding of DNS protocol behavior and strong experience operating DNS services in production at scale.
  • Practical, hands-on experience in configuring and managing F5 BIG-IP DNS.
  • Solid grasp of IP networking basics relevant to DNS delivery.
  • Practical understanding of Linux runtime basics related to DNS services.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a senior SME and technical authority in a 24×7 production environment.
  • Strong incident leadership and structured troubleshooting skills, with experience producing RCAs and driving problem management.
