Based in Macquarie Park, Sydney, The Lead Resiliency Program Manager - Tx will lead, plan and execute large scale network deployment AOP projects and Technology Team, engage various external/internal stakeholders and maintain relationships at all levels within Optus Access Network. This role will oversee the deployment and resiliency of transmission infrastructure, ensuring successful delivery of large-scale initiatives that support business growth, government programs, and operational excellence.

Your day to day will consist of

  • Manage and lead a high‑performing Transmission technology function, embedding technical excellence, accountable delivery, and collaborative engineering culture across complex network programs.
  • Develop and present technically robust business cases for new transmission initiatives, incorporating detailed financial modelling, risk assessment, and long‑term capacity and scalability analysis.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex technical or project delivery issues.
  • Lead end-to-end resiliency program management of large-scale transmission technology projects.
  • Deliver individual programs and projects as required by the business in line with their specifications.
  • Implement strategies to optimise capital & or Opex expenditure.
  • Manage several external vendors and contractors to deliver the required programs.
  • Compile monthly capital & or Opex forecasts and analyze financial reports for assigned capital projects.
  • Participate in high-level commercial negotiations with vendors in regard to delivery partners and equipment suppliers.
  • Support and cultivate strategic partnerships with technology vendors and system integrators to enhance capability in delivering complex, large‑scale transmission and infrastructure programs. 

 

What makes you perfect for the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business, or telecommunications (or equivalent) plus strong telco experience; PMI/Prince2/PMBOK/ITIL certifications highly regarded.
  • Proven experience leading cross‑functional delivery teams (PMs, network engineers, PEs) through the design, integration, and rollout of large‑scale infrastructure resiliency programs.
  • Deep technical experience in resilient transmission clusters using multiple transmission media, with strong exposure to mobile access networks, large‑scale deployments, and data centre/exchange environments.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, SDH/CE/WDM, BGP, OSPF, and telco solution design across full project lifecycles.
  • Experience managing CAPEX/OPEX, SAP financial tasks, procurement, contracts/tenders, and preparing TCOs.
  • Strong command of project management and delivery methodologies (Optus frameworks included) and ability to apply quality control standards.
  • Proven ability to manage cross‑functional, multi‑location technical teams under high pressure and complex conditions.
  • Highly resilient, accountable, adaptable, results oriented, proactive, with strong decision making under time/budget constraints.
