Join Optus as a Principal Technical Specialist – DNS, where you’ll lead the design, engineering, and lifecycle management of DNS systems that power Optus’ Internet core for mobile, consumer, and business customers. This senior role combines technical leadership with hands-on delivery, ensuring resiliency, security, and compliance across complex Telco environments. If you have deep expertise in DNS (F5, BIND) and a passion for innovation, we want you on our team.
Your day to day will consist of
- Design and implement DNS systems for Optus’ Internet core network.
- Develop detailed design documentation, testing plans, and implementation guides.
- Configure and optimize DNS platforms (F5, BIND) for resiliency and performance.
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve design and integration issues.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and acting as SME for DNS.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and manage lifecycle upgrades
What makes you perfect for the role?
- Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in DNS engineering within Telco or major service provider.
- Hands-on expertise with DNS systems including F5 and BIND configuration and operation.
- Strong knowledge of Internet network design and DNS architecture principles.
- Experience with network test tools, documentation, and technical training delivery.
- Ability to liaise with senior stakeholders and manage vendor relationships effectively.
- Desirable: Experience with SDN controllers, automation tools (Ansible), and Python scripting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under limited supervision
