The Program Manager, Transport Delivery oversees the end-to-end planning and execution of IP and transport network deployment programs, ensuring successful delivery, optimisation, and onboarding of transmission solutions across the telecommunications network. The role requires strong leadership, program management, and technical expertise, working closely with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver projects, manage risks, and drive operational efficiency. It also focuses on continuous improvement, enhancing service delivery productivity, reducing costs, and improving customer experience and revenue performance through strategic analysis and innovation.

 

Your day to day will consist of

  • Lead planning and prioritisation of programs aligned to the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), including coordinating engineering and customer order delivery.
  • Manage CAPEX/OPEX budgets, financial forecasting, inventory, and material availability to ensure on-time project execution.
  • Oversee service partners and vendors nationally, ensuring effective procurement, governance, and delivery of cost-efficient, high-quality solutions.
  • Track and report on program progress, resources, risks, and financial performance, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and KPIs.
  • Drive stakeholder engagement across internal teams and external partners to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to WHS and quality standards.
  • Promote continuous improvement by optimising costs, managing contract variations, mitigating risks, and resolving issues to support efficient delivery.
  • Oversee end-to-end project execution by managing dependencies, onboarding new technologies, handling escalations, and ensuring adherence to Optus standards and delivery processes.
  • Drive operational and financial performance by managing contract changes, forecasts, reporting, resource planning, and improving delivery efficiency, cost, and accountability.
  • Ensure quality outcomes through governance of vendors/service partners, compliance with technical and WHS standards, and effective handover and documentation processes.

 

 

What makes you perfect for the role

  • Engineering degree with 10+ years’ experience in telecommunications project, vendor, and infrastructure deployment, including senior delivery roles.
  • Extensive experience across transport network operations (Mobile, Fixed, Core, Enterprise) and large-scale program delivery.
  • Proven expertise in leading procurement, major tenders, and contract management for transport engineering services and equipment.
  • Strong background in transformation programs, commercial management, and driving strategic initiatives using industry insights.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability managing teams, leaders, and offshore resources, with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • High-level program management, problem-solving, and commercial acumen, supported by certified project management qualifications.
  • Strong personal and professional attributes including adaptability, customer focus, integrity, teamwork, and solid understanding of regulatory, WHS, and environmental standards.
