About the role ... 

 

You will have a strong background in sourcing and category management activities to help drive the procurement activities across Optus. Your role will initiate and coordinate the strategic sourcing of one or more commodities/spend categories. This will be achieved through the creation of category plans that proactively identify strategic sourcing opportunities through analysis of internal requirements washed against external supply opportunities.

 

You'll monitor global trends and continuously research and develop new supply markets and sources as well as managing relationships internally and with partners/suppliers. You will also be required to participate in vendor selection, conduct vendor negotiation, execute contracts, and work closely with the Contract & Vendor Manager to maintain a system of compliance monitoring, measurement, and enforcement.

 

Essential skills & qualifications

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Business or Procurement with a minimum of 5 years corporate procurement sourcing or category management experience in same or similar categories / commodities of expenditure;
  • Solid understanding of relationship management contracts negotiation and contract management, with a thorough understanding of costing and vendors commercial practices and accountabilities;
  • Understanding of business and industry in which the organisation operates, plus ability to communicate effectively with vendors, internal customers, management and peers;
  • Sets benchmarks of quality, cost and delivery effectiveness, and successfully manages clients/vendors relationship through managing expectations; &
  • Experience in delivery by utilising the most effective endorsed vendor management model including effective project management practices!
