Senior DevSecOps Engineer

Date: 8 Jul 2026

Location: Macquarie Park, Australia

Company: Singtel Group

Optus is an Australian telecommunications company, delivering more than 11 million services to our customers every day across mobile, broadband and digital solutions.

We are seeking a Senior DevSecOps Engineer based in Macquarie Park, Sydney to own the technical direction and day-to-day execution of our DevSecOps strategies and platform delivery goals. You'll work closely with the Associate Director to drive group-wide initiatives, provide deep technical guidance, and coordinate engineering effort across the team. If you thrive in a hands-on senior role where you can shape platform strategy, mentor peers, and embed modern security practices across the delivery lifecycle — this one's for you.

What You'll Do

  • Drive day-to-day technical prioritisation across the team, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and coordination of parallel workstreams.
  • Design, implement, and govern CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, ArgoCD (GitOps), and secrets management platforms such as HashiCorp Vault.
  • Operate and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters (OpenShift/Rancher) in production environments.
  • Build and maintain GCP infrastructure using Terraform, supporting GKE, VPC networking, IAM, monitoring, and cost optimisation.
  • Govern security pipeline stages across the SDLC — including SAST, DAST, SCA, and quality gate enforcement — ensuring findings are actioned before promotion.
  • Engage cross-functional teams (Software Operations, Platform, Testing, Delivery, Architecture) to align on tooling, standards, and delivery approaches.
  • Produce and maintain documentation and operational runbooks in Confluence.

What makes you perfect for the role?

  • Advanced Kubernetes operations (OpenShift/Rancher) with strong production troubleshooting experience.
  • Hands-on GCP experience across provisioning, operations, monitoring, and incident response (GKE, VPC, IAM).
  • Solid CI/CD pipeline design and governance skills using GitLab CI, with GitOps delivery patterns via ArgoCD.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency using Terraform and/or Ansible, plus strong scripting in Python and Bash.
  • Experience with pipeline security tooling (SAST, DAST, SCA) and secrets management (HashiCorp Vault or equivalent).
  • Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and container hardening.
  • Ability to mentor peers and provide technical leadership across a platform engineering team.
