The Senior Network Engineer – Fixed Voice Engineering is a hands-on technical role responsible for network design and delivery of Fixed Voice Core solutions.
The successful candidate will be acting as a technical input for assigned initiatives, this role develops network design activities from initial scoping through to implementation in the production environment.
Your day to day will consist of
- Lead technical design and delivery for Fixed Voice Core network projects, covering scoping, high‑level and detailed design, testing, implementation, and operational handover.
- Produce, review, and approve high‑quality network design documentation with strong technical governance.
- Independently translate product and business requirements into effective network solution designs.
- Prepare change management documentation and perform configuration and deployment on production network devices.
- Provide Tier 3 operational support, including fault resolution, maintenance, and lab‑based testing and validation.
- Define and maintain Fixed Voice Core network standards, processes, and best practices, contributing to automation and innovation initiatives.
- Act as a trusted technical expert, engaging internal stakeholders and vendors and delivering clear technical communication across the organisation.
What makes you perfect for the role
- Minimum 6 years’ telecommunications experience, including at least 2 years in a senior Fixed Voice network design role across Fixed Voice environments.
- Strong knowledge of Fixed Voice protocols and technologies including SIP, SDP, RTP, TDM, and INAP, with hands‑on experience in TDM and SIP networks.
- Proven experience designing and implementing Fixed Voice Core architectures and solutions.
- Hands‑on experience with network testing tools, methodologies, monitoring, and management platforms, with sound understanding of API integration.
- Familiarity with Ribbon Fixed Voice solutions (C20/CS2K, SBC, PSX) and automation tools such as Ansible and GitLab pipelines is desirable.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work autonomously within Optus network standards and operating procedures.
