We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to define, build, and run innovative cloud infrastructure that supports important network and service platforms, using both commercial and open-source virtualization tools.
What You’ll Do
- Compose, build, and operate enterprise private cloud platforms including Proxmox VE, and KVM-based platforms.
- Operate and support container platforms such as Kubernetes and OpenShift.
- Support hybrid and public cloud environments, including AWS.
- Own platform availability, performance, capacity, and lifecycle management.
- Drive cost-efficient private cloud builds balancing performance, resilience, and commercial outcomes.
- Lead platform upgrades, migrations, expansions, and technology refresh activities.
- Provide Tier-3 support, lead incident root-cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.
- Develop automation and Infrastructure as Code through tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Git-based CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure platforms meet Optus security, risk, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate closely with network, security, software, and operations teams.
- Provide technical mentoring and guidance to junior engineers.
What You Bring
- Extensive practical experience with enterprise virtualization platforms such as Proxmox VE.
- Experience operating Proxmox in clustered or production environments.
- Strong Linux administration experience (RHEL or equivalent).
- Practical experience operating Kubernetes platforms (OpenShift or upstream Kubernetes).
- Experience working with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Scripting experience using Python, GoLang and/or Bash.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing).
- Experience operating highly available, critical infrastructure environments.
