Senior Platform Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to define, build, and run innovative cloud infrastructure that supports important network and service platforms, using both commercial and open-source virtualization tools. 

What You’ll Do

• Compose, build, and operate enterprise private cloud platforms including Proxmox VE, and KVM-based platforms.
• Operate and support container platforms such as Kubernetes and OpenShift.
• Support hybrid and public cloud environments, including AWS.
• Own platform availability, performance, capacity, and lifecycle management.
• Drive cost-efficient private cloud builds balancing performance, resilience, and commercial outcomes.
• Lead platform upgrades, migrations, expansions, and technology refresh activities.
• Provide Tier-3 support, lead incident root-cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.
• Develop automation and Infrastructure as Code through tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Git-based CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensure platforms meet Optus security, risk, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate closely with network, security, software, and operations teams.
• Provide technical mentoring and guidance to junior engineers.

What You Bring

• Extensive practical experience with enterprise virtualization platforms such as Proxmox VE.
• Experience operating Proxmox in clustered or production environments.
• Strong Linux administration experience (RHEL or equivalent).
• Practical experience operating Kubernetes platforms (OpenShift or upstream Kubernetes).
• Experience working with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Scripting experience using Python, GoLang and/or Bash.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing).
• Experience operating highly available, critical infrastructure environments.
