The Operational Support Systems Senior Platform Owner (OSS SPO) role sits in the Core Network department of Optus Networks division, leads a team of both internal and vendor professionals, and owns several business critical platforms.

 

The OSS SPO is responsible for managing the long-term strategy, budget and architecture of the platforms in their scope. You will also be responsible for life cycle management of the platforms including upgrades, enhancements, and supporting the resolution of any escalated operational issues.

 

What You’ll Do

The role will be responsible for:

  • Platform Management of Service Management systems including but not limited to: Open Text Service Manager, Open Text CMDB, and all integrations.
  • Overall technical management of platforms during their life cycle from the initial deployment, enhancements, upgrades, and the replacement of the platform with a new platform (if required) at the end of its life cycle, including decommissioning and ensuring the platforms comply to all Optus resiliency and security requirements, also ensuring platform remains within vendor support as per product lifecycle requirements
  • Planning for all resources required by the platforms in their remit, including but not limited to data centre or exchange requirements, infrastructure, growth in software licenses and hardware, solution onboarding as per Network NOCR or IT CAB process, security onboarding as per Optus Infosec / Cyber / Data governance and other related processes and policies
  • Management of Platform solution design and implementation and integration to other Northbound/Southbound interfaces delivered by Supplier and other teams, ensuring designs meet all functional, and nonfunctional requirements.
  • Working with OSS Operations for management of any critical operational issues, including break fix and patching of security vulnerabilities.
  • Management and Governance of Supplier activities including design/deployment of platforms, ensuring the compliance of supplier personnel to Optus’ policies, and ensuring value for money for supplier engagements.
  • Management of CAPEX and OPEX as applicable including but not limited to financial forecasts, project management tool updates ensuring PMO KPIs are met
  • Input into RFI, RFQ, RFT for their platforms, acting on the guidance and advice from Contracts and Capex Manager for OSS as well as Procurement and Legal counsel teams.
  • Working with users across engineering and operations to ensure the usage / adoption of the Platforms remains high. Where usage of a platform does not warrant continued investment, implement plans to decommission and retire the platform.     
  • Proactively optimise the Capex / Opex requirements for the platforms to ensure value for money for all Capex / Opex spend on platforms in SPO’s remit.                               
  • Manage all configurations within the System, ensuring all process documents are kept up to date in event of changes resulting in process changes, and running yearly review of all ITSM processes configured in the platform
  • Manage with the owner of Configuration Items (CI), ensuring the parameters and risk category of all CI’s are configured correctly.
  • Ensure proactive health checks of the platform is configured in OSS Observability and regularly review the observability of the platform to improve how Operations teams manage the platform

 

 

What You’ll Bring

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Working with OSS Domain Architect for development of roadmaps for the platforms & systems under their remit.
  • Staying across industry trends to identify new platforms to further Optus Networks strategies where it relates to OSS Assurance as defined by TM Forum
  • Experience driving teams to deliver projects and platform enhancements
  • Accountable for projects to deploy, enhance platforms using a range of delivery methods including direct management, turnkey vendor projects, or delivery in partnership with other delivery teams.
  • Working together with OSS Operations Incident Managers to address any escalated faults or vendor issues in relation to Platform during its Operational lifetime.
  • Financial and resource management skills to optimise costs
  • Overall understanding of Procurement and Legal processes and best practice, as well as Project delivery, CAB, Cyber/Infosec, and Data Governance
  • High level of resilience and ability to successfully operate in an ambiguous, time bound, and transformational environment
