Senior Privacy Analyst

Privacy is a critical area of focus at Optus. This role will contribute to the development of Optus' sustainable and repeatable privacy program, helping respond to regulators orders and build confidence amongst consumers and stakeholders.
You will be a trusted advisor and partner to the business, providing specialist expertise towards commercial and operational decision making and ensuring the organisation meets its obligations under the Privacy Act and the relevant sections of the Telecommunications Act and the Telecommunications Interception Act.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting privacy impact assessments and making recommendations on matters relating to complex privacy issues such as: biometrics, automation, digitisation, artificial intelligence, data analytics and other complex and multi-jurisdictional issues;
- Advising on privacy law and regulatory reforms and assisting the business in implementing processes to ensure their compliance with these new laws and regulations;
- advising on Optus’ privacy incidents. This will see you support the management of complex and high risk issues, helping to ensure that these issues are contained, prevention recommendations met, incident register kept accurate and incidents managed in accordance with the legal requirements of the data breach notification laws;
- helping run the Privacy Dropbox, including managing the tracking and reporting of potential issues with the aim of ensuring Optus remains compliant with its privacy obligations and its reputation is maintained.
You will (have some of the following):
- Proven experience, ideally in a privacy, compliance/regulatory or legal role;
- A strong strategic problem solver with commercial acumen and sound judgement;
- Proven experience to deal with complex and high-profile privacy issues;
- Previous exposure to project management or change management would be useful, but not mandatory.
