We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Technical Specialist in Building Automation to join our team based in Macquarie Park, Sydney, or Melbourne. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of property technology, including Building Management Systems , mechanical systems, energy management controls, and alarm components across Optus technical facilities. You will ensure optimal performance, support general and project-related works, and maintain the functionality and efficiency of these systems.
The day to day
- Oversee the operations of the BMS system, including general service and project-related works, and assist various operational teams, including Optus project teams, network engineers, and facilities contractors.
- Manage all IT-related services for the BMS, including hardware/software upgrades, server backups, and system support. Serve as the sole administrator for BMS terminals and program licensing, ensure compliance with security standards.
- Integrate energy-efficient mechanical and BMS control solutions, track and optimise energy consumption, and promote sustainability across all systems.
- Conduct regular assessments of mechanical, BMS, and energy management systems, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with environmental standards.
- Develop comprehensive Scopes of Work (SOW), including BMS, mechanical, and electrical monitoring systems, as well as energy management components for infrastructure projects.
- Lead the tender process, including drafting documents, issuing tenders, evaluating bids, and awarding contracts, all while adhering to Optus procurement procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, procurement, energy management, and project management, to align on project objectives and sustainability goals.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and industry regulations, ensure Optus property tech meets contractual obligations while driving energy management initiatives and system improvements.
Why you are our next Senior Technical Specialist - Building Automation
- Qualifications in Mechanical and BMS PLC/Electrical Engineering for Critical Facilities infrastructure.
- In depth experience within infrastructure, building construction, and services projects.
- Strong knowledge of BMS systems, HVAC design, mechanical systems, and energy management principles relevant to telecommunications sites.
- Proven commercial management and sourcing skills with CAPEX budgets.
- Experience in formulating engineering standards and developing scopes for BMS mechanical systems and energy management projects.
- Familiarity with green building practices, sustainability standards, and energy-efficient systems.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for engaging with project teams, stakeholders, and suppliers.
