In this role you will act as a subject matter expert within the Integration & Maintenance Engineering team, responsible for testing and integrating new software, hardware and services into the network, primarily across Packet Core and Policy platforms. The role includes Tier 3 support, vendor coordination, and providing technical leadership while working independently and supporting junior engineers and operations. This position may involve after-hours work and requires strong expertise across mobile data network platforms and the ability to step in for management when needed.
What You'll Do
- Provide Tier 3 support for faults, maintenance, and operations across consumer and business network platforms.
- Act as a subject matter expert, owning products and leading testing, integration, and deployment of new solutions.
- Manage vendors and resolve software issues, ensuring readiness for production deployment.
- Plan and execute network upgrades, cutovers, and rollback procedures with minimal customer impact.
- Drive network performance improvements through optimisation, best practices, and infrastructure enhancements.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, standards, and test environments aligned to production.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and support to teams while contributing to strategy, planning, and acting in a manager capacity when required.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering (or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
- 7–10 years’ telecommunications experience with strong expertise across 4G/5G, VoLTE, VoIP, packet core (PCRF/PCF), and IP networking.
- Proven Tier 2/3 operations experience in fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, restoration, and major incident management.
- Strong understanding of operational processes, customer issue resolution, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent communication skills with experience engaging and presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience or exposure to testing methodologies, signalling protocols (e.g. GTP, Diameter, Radius), and vendor platforms such as Amdocs/Openet.
- Familiarity with cloud/virtualised networks, automation (CI/CD), large-scale environments, and network design, testing, and optimisation practices.
